North Norfolk beaches

If you want to plan a cheap trip to Norfolk you can’t beat the north Norfolk coast beaches.

There is a selection of popular ones to choose from; Cromer, Sheringham or Wells-next-the-sea which has the nicest beach, although the others are great for shopping and eating out.

Sheringham has a full-sized steam train that runs along the North Norfolk coast.

There are no harbours at Sheringham but if this is what you seek – a large one awaits you at Wells-next-the-sea.

The beach at Wells is a good walk from the town.

It’s a scenic mile long stroll, so it depends if you don’t mind parking some way away as the car park and cafe at the beach can get quite crowded in high season.

Cromer and Sheringham are only about 15 minutes’ drive from one another so you could combine the two easily in one day.

Holkham is home to an incredible beach and is home to Holkham Hall & Estate. 

These grounds are well worth a visit and are only 5 minutes journey from Wells.

 

A cheap trip to Norfolk, with or without transport

If you opt not to bring a car, you might be surprised to know that you can still enjoy a great holiday in Norfolk fairly cheaply.

The coasthopper bus runs along the Norfolk Coast Path which is an area of outstanding natural beauty.

The coasthopper runs from Kings Lynn and Cromer allowing you to include Cromer, Sheringham, Wells-next-the-sea and Hunstanton.

There are plenty of historical locations worth noting when you’re looking at how to plan a cheap trip to Norfolk.

Some of the historical houses include Houghton Hall (near Kings Lynn), Holkham Hall (near Wells) and Felbrigg Hall (outside Cromer).

 

The train journey would lead you to two carriage changes, but is far more relaxing than driving.

If you stay near to Cromer or Sheringham you can even get a train to Wroxham where you can hire a boat and explore Wroxham broads

Norwich is home to the castle and cathedral and a great shopping community.

Alternatively, if you make the time to travel to Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft, you can enjoy the seaside and local amenities.

Whichever way you choose to do it, Wymondham should be your preferred start point, especially if you are looking to keep costs down.
