Your Day Out on The Poppy Line

One of Norfolk’s most loved attractions is the North Norfolk Railway and The Poppy Line runs from Sheringham to Holt. Your day out on The Poppy Line will be steeped in rich Norfolk heritage and one that the family won’t forget in a hurry.

Sheringham Station

In Harry Potter-esque wonderment your day out on The Poppy Line will begin at Sheringham Station by being greeted by the glorious steam engines when you step onto the platform.

The station isn’t just where you get on The Poppy Line but also where you can grab a snack before departing from the 1950’s café, or if you have some time to kill visit the children’s activity carriage to keep everyone amused. You should ear mark some time to truly explore this nostalgic station which remains almost unchanged since the 1950’s.

Tickets

Once you have brought your ticket for your day out on The Poppy Line, it will be time to hear that famous whistle before hopping on and choosing one of the many different carriages to begin your journey down the North Norfolk Railway along the North Norfolk Coast. We suggest buying a roving ticket as this means you can jump on and off at each station throughout the day.

Weybourne Station

This is the first stop on route and the station boasts some beautiful picnic areas, a gift shop and even an Edwardian Toilet! You could get off and wander to the beach to spend some time taking in the stunning Norfolk Coastline.

Holt Station

The final stop on your day out on The Poppy Line is Holt Station. Hop off and have a look at the unique miniature and model railway, the William Marriot Museum and Railway Cottage.

Both young and old members of the family will have their breath taken away when the steam train changes tracks and fills with water all ready for your inbound home journey.

Your day out on The Poppy Line will make you feel as though you truly stepped back in time, and will provide magical memories for all the family.

It won’t be long before you’ll back at the ticket office again!
